An elf passed my way and sprinkled a little Christmas cheer: Specifically, a $300 touch to use as I wish. I've determined a new sub was in order. It's intended for my 12x10 den to supplement a Yamaha YSP-3000 sound projector that's hung under my 42" Panny plasma, centered on the 12' wall. We sit about 9' away form this. I could use some help with a selection. Thanks in advance......Ed

Get one of these and put the extra money towards a Panasonic DMP-35K Blu-Ray player.

Get this Mirage S8 sub, its better than that Energy sub and has more power. That Energy sub is a good buy though. But the Mirage Omni S8 is very well rated. Energy and Mirage are the same company.

In looking at that page, I see they have a new S8 sub with 2x's the power of the Omni S8. I dont know how the 2 compare, but if its anything like the Omni S8 then I would jump on it for $279 down from over $500.

I agree with BR that the Mirage Omni S-8 is a great sub and a step up from the Energy ESW-8. However, that Prestige S-8 at $279 is an absolute steal (great find by BR)! It supposedly has a black gloss finish not evident by the photo. Vann's is an excellent online dealer. Any of these three subs would be an excellent addition to your Yamaha in a 10 x 12 room. They also would be a great match if you ever decide to upgrade to five separate speakers.

Be sure whatever sub you buy, it is placed up front below the Yamaha sound bar, or not far off to either side.

A 12 x 10 room is very small. Either of the subs from Overstock.com might be a boomy muddy mess in my opinion.

The HSU-STF-1 is a quality sub and a very good choice.
