Which receiver for setup: Onkyo 606 or 806?

I'm setting up a home theater with Polk speakers (LSiC, LSi9, LC265i) and was wondering if the Onkyo TX-SR606 (vs the 806) would be sufficient for my setup.

I'm going to be running a PS3 and Tivo HD on a 58" Samsung PN58A650. Playing mostly TV & blu-rays, and some games and music.

Would there be any significant need or benefit in getting the 806 vs 606 with my setup?

The main benefit would be the 130wpc of the 806 over the 90wpc of the 606. If you ever wanted to upgrade your speakers to a more demanding speaker you will have the power.

That receiver will be with you a LOONG time.
Regardless, make sure it has HDMI switching, decodes the latest formats, and has 5.1 inputs and pre outs.
These are essentials, the rest are "features".
If you can afford it(and find it) an Integra (made by onkyo) would nor cost much more and have way better quality, they tend to pay more attention to those.
But if you are not interested go for the 806, its a huge step up for a few hundred more bucks.

I was recently in your shoes. I bought an Onkyo 905 off the bay right before the new models came out. If you can live with less gimmcrackery I'd suggest getting a "new old stock" 805 or 875. More power less money.

E.T., go with the 806. Its reasonably price if you buy it off the net. And seeing that your going to use it for movies,TV and gaming mostly, I dont think that you will get any significant benefit by going with a higher end receiver. The Onkyo's are excellent for the price. Finding a new 805 is an option. Save the money and buy a nice Blu-Ray or subwoofer.
