Or Hannukah, or whatever it is that you celebrate?

Not that I'm buying anything for any of you freaks...I'm just curious.

Or Hannukah, or whatever it is that you celebrate?

Not that I'm buying anything for any of you freaks...I'm just curious.

I gave my family a list of about 50 CDs and SACDs that I'd like -- I don't expect to get all of them.

But hey, check it out: you just might not be able to resist the urge to get me a few; (see the .PDF of my ArkivMusic wishlist (http://ca.geocities.com/w_d_bailey/Bills2008MusicWishList.pdf)). :cornut:

Time off work...I haven't had a vacation since...well...last Christmas. And this year's been particularly busy for me. I'm looking forward to 16 days of doing nothing but eating, drinking and playing with whatever new toys I get. Just like the good ol' days. 16 freakin' days. Minimal stess. Minimal travel. Minimal care. Minimal Egg...Maximal Nog. :3:

Wishes for Christmas

1. Wish my oldest (11) wasn't old enough to be wondering to herself if Santa is real. They grow up so fast!

2. Hope that money worries ease. Now have a stable job, time to pay off student loans!

3. Hope that this country can get back on stable footing. This is a rough year for lots of familes, and I hope they make it better next year.

4. More tolerance from all camps. We have enough worries in the world that we ought to stop looking in others bedrooms to decide if they are "worthy" of respect/rights.

5. I also like shiny electronic items. If you PM me, I'll provide you with a wish list from some select retailers.

Yeah, big ditto. This calendar year I have a month of vacationtime and I intend to use every instant of it...as opposed to this year in which I actually took one week less than allotted.

I'm tired of being tired...and that single malt sounds good too.

If you're really old like me you might remember this very popular song from when I was a child:

Every body Pauses and stares at me
These two teeth are gone as you can see
I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!

All I want for Christmas
is my two front teeth,
my two front teeth,
see my two front teeth!

Gee, if I could only
have my two front teeth,
then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas."
It seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,
if I could only whistle (thhhh, thhhh)

All I want for Christmas
is my two front teeth,
my two front teeth,
see my two front teeth.

Gee, if I could only
have my two front teeth,
then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas!"

That's one of those songs that I try really hard to forget. Along with I saw Mommy kissing Santa Clause and Jingle Bell Rock.

I forgot something.

This year I also hope that everyone remembers the 12' rule in speaker placement. One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, family, and friends is the gift of perfect sound. Don't be shy. At any of your gatherings, whip out the old tape measure, and test your setup.

If the speakers are too close, or too far away, move them. Nothing more exciting than explaining to your buddy that although the dinner is nice, his audio is off. But with a sledgehammer, and a few minutes, you can easily fix that by moving a speaker or two.

Enjoy your holiday. And spread the joy of perfect speaker width.

(Just for Bob. Haven't had a Melvin reference in a while)

Ok, funny story.

When I was about 4, I was quite the acrobatic little scamp. My mother left me in the basement un-attended for a few minutes as something in the oven was burning. (or so the story goes). She was distracted with the burning caserole, and forgot about me for a bit.

She remembered that she had left me as the scent of Old Spice wafted through the kitchen. Mom, sprinted downstairs to find me bottle in hand. Apparently I had drank about 3/4 of the bottle that Mom had gotten my father for Christmas. I had climbed on top of a bookshelf to get it!

Mom rushed me to the ER, where I was observed for an hour or so. Back in the 70's child protection laws apparently were a bit more lax. I was released with the instruction to "make sure he doesn't fall asleep for a while" while I metablized the alchol in the aftershave.

I was quite giggly as my mother recalls. I stunk like old spice so bad, that my father NEVER got another bottle of it. As an added bonus, the portion that I hadn't drank proceeded to lift the wax off the floor where I had spilled. And the basement stunk for weeks.

I don't recall the exact taste, but I would assume it wasn't all that good. But hey, free booze right?
