SAW A great monitor in an ad in USA today.
I am no big fan of SHARP, but they might have hit an home run
with this one,
ITS AN lcd tv , biggest thing?
Its an inch wide.
Thats right, an inch.
My guess is that they do this with LED backlights, but it is just a guess.
The average LCD/PLASMA is around three inches wide.
Yeah teah, I KNOW, LOOKS AINT EVERYTHING.
But this is a really cool device, probably very expensive to boot.:1:

YEP, AN RGB LED BACKLIGHT, the only way you could make a LCD set this thin.
OLED will be the next "thin" breakthrough.
This should also result in unprecedented color purity and amazing contrast ratio, since the backlight "bleed thru problem will be a thing of the past.
Time to head down to the title loan place...:1:

The sleek all-metal Sharp 65-inch XS1 Limited Edition costs $16,000. The 52 incher costs $11,000.
But if I recall, Sony developed a 0.3mm OLED set early this year, almost paper thin ;)

Soon pix, DLP will also be used in medical imaging so doctors will be able to look at your brain and maybe figure out why it's borked.
Lord knows we can't.:dita:

I was just beginning to wonder what was so special about a 1" wide LCD screen, since my digital camera has one not too much bigger than that, but I guess we are talking about screen thickness, not width. Hmm, actually, the LCD panel in my camera would be thinner than that, too. Ah, no backlight, which I guess is what this is really about.

and MAYBE THEY will come up with some meds that will convince you
that DLP is dead as a rptv item, not even lasers will save it.
The important thing about this set isn't its thickness , its teh way its backlit with LEDS.
Its a more intelligent way to backlight, with more control resulting in
better Contrast and color.
Thats backlit rich, dont confuse with what you are most of the time
(just plain lit):1:
