I'm unable to establish a connection. I've installed the beta release; the HDD space gets reserved properly, the "WWW" icon appears in the upper right corner, I agree to the "Usage policy" and then I get the error:
Server error.
Session has timed out or does not exists.

Nice. I guess I'll be working this issue for a while so don't burn my house down before I get there okay? :nono:
Happens to me too. Just keep retrying and you'll get in eventually. 5 or 6 tries. Once you get in, it doesn't seem to happen anymore. You gotta check out the Hong Kong/Japan version of home. VERY NICE. I actually run into a lot of english speaking people over there.

Hmmm... "beta" ...Hmmm? :nonod:
Hmmm... "beta" ...Hmmm? :nonod:
There's a few glitches here and there but the updates are coming pretty steady. It's funny because before the 1.05 update, you could speak to anyone using voice and they had to get rid of that really quick. Boy did I hear some stuff
Now you can only use voice in private areas and there's a "phone" feature where you can call friends directly and talk to each other privately. Hopefully pool tables become available for purchase soon. I'd pay for a table no problem. I heard that music & video streaming to private area may become available eventually. But with Sony....may take another year to get going.
I can't believe people are paying for clothing and stuff like that though. There was an article that said Sony made more money from the first week of home than from the video download service. A lotta people buying stuff. I got all mine for free during the closed beta though ;)
I've made "friends" with people all over. Canada, Portugal, Japan, UK..it's crazy. You run into the occasional idiot but a lot of nice folks out there.

Sounds cool L.J. I have to go out and get one more Christmas present for my niece (she's a Wal-mart junkie, go figure  ), but I'll try to get through the server issue later.
BTW, Kex hurt himself playing hockey (doesn't realize he's not a teenager any more  ) so we'll have a captive audience for a few days.
So if I don't buy clothes, how will others see me in the virtual world? :sosp:

I got some time off too so I'll be around.
You get a couple of items to start you off for free. Anything else costs $$$$
You can unlock a bunch of stuff if you download the namco beta from the HK psn store. Sounds complicated but it's easy.
1. go to users section of XMB & create a new user
2. Register for the PSN under your new user account
3. fill out the necessary info(make it up) but choose Hong Kong as your location but english for language.
4. download the free namco beta from the Hong Kong PSN store.
5. Play the games(pac-man, dig dug, galaga) to unlock free home items(clothes, furniture, arcade games....)
I have 3 accounts and will probably open a UK account soon. Once you have a HK account you can visit the HK/Japan home. VERY NICE compared to the US version. I know, I'm a nerd :D

Should work. There's a thread going at bluray.com discussing it. I picked up a bluetooth one on sale at amazon.

As frustrated as I got last night trying to get my brain and thumbs to play together during Resistance, I'm willing to give it another go later on. I've got some running around to do today but I'll be home around dinner time (6pm my time)
I'm always on-line (no freakin life lol) so holla at me if you see me on there.
Resistance????
What the heck happened to you guys? I barely see you online anymore.

I have to tell ya the truth bud, between my craving for music, my amazement with the PQ of BD movies, and the trouble this PC gamer has using the controller, I've been reluctant to spend much time on the PSN lately. I guess I've become a dissapointment, huh? And we were giving you some space during your family situation as well.

I'm still game, but I kinda need a window of 24 hrs to make arrangments to be there.
Maybe we should find some ar.com PS3 time we can all agree on and just go with that on a weekly basis or something?

Kex that's a good idea. I try to hit these guys up with a message but it takes GM & Rich a freakin week to respond back. I'm kinda addicted to Resistance so I'm always online playing. Next time I see you online, I'll invite you to a game.
Rich, if you ain't gonna play, I know someone who would love that copy of Resistance and headset you got sittin on your counter collecting dust. I'll take that MGS4 too while your at it :p

GM I cut and paste this from an earlier post. I will try to put up the u tube link also. It's really simple to do. The JPN/Hong Kong version of home is really nice. There's no idiots running around and it's less crowded. The pool tables are always empty and they have darts and more games.

It's worth the effort. Should only take about 5 minutes. If we get bored with US home or can't get a table, we can swing over to the HK home. It's really nice compared to US and less crowded.

No it's working fine. Stays on 24/7. I noticed too much bass coming from my sub and realized my kid changed the preset on me. A quick turn and I was back in business. I have several huge peaks going on in the lower freq. and the BFD is a must for me since I only pretty much have one option for sub placement. The Titanic has a built in EQ but only one band. If you could cut several peaks, I think you'll have a huge improvement in sound. I couldn't live without it. Bass hits hard when it's supposed to and is smooth as butter. Fills the room nicely and you'd have no clue it was coming from the sub. Yup, I love my system.

Finished with Fallout 3. Awesome game.
Started Dead Space - ok so far, but I only got an hour or so into it and I've been too damn busy the last 2 weeks to get back to it.
Prince of Persia was a lot of fun, not very difficult, but a great story.

lol....I'm thinking this was probably a guy in real life. Usually the aggressive behavior gives them away. Or maybe it was a very screwed up 13 year old.
I've had people try to give me their phone number. I draw the line at any type of funny business. Most people I talk to are my age though so usually no problems. I'm only there to shoot pool and maybe waste some talking to people.

Glad you're happy with your Dell. I brought home a Precision M-60 from work last week (business machine): it weighs a ton but it's got a nice wide screen. It's coming in real handy with my subwoofer EQ'ing graphs and such. Too bad it didn't come with an external audio card. :(
