As some might remember, two of my closest friends run an "art house" theatre here in Albany called "The Spectrum Theatre". They've been showing stuff since 1982 that Hoyts, now Regal wouldn't touch with your hands.

Every year Kieth and Sugi go to the Toronto Film Festival and every year I pick their brains (must eat BRAINS) to find out what I might wanna watch this year or the the next. Here are some of the flicks that left them impressed.
1. "The Wrestler" - This film starring Mickey Rourke (a very pumped up Mickey Rourke) follows the life and times of a washed up wrestler. The said it his performance was/is Oscar worthy.
2. "The Martyrs" - We'll be talking about this one right up there withe "Salo" and other as too violent for words. French film about a woman tortured for 15 years and her lust for revenge.
3. "Zack and Mimi Make a Porno" - Supposedly sweet and funny and sad.
4 "Soul Power" - The companion piece to the Academy Award winning documentary "When We Were Kings". This one focuses on the music festival, also organized by Don King that was supposed to coincide with the Ali Foreman Fight.
Hope this gives you something to look forward to.
