Well, with the financial meltdown, Hurricanes going left right and sideways and the political dogfight in high gear here's a little topic to take your mind off your/our collective troubles for a bit.

"Ah Am Da Genie of Da Lamp!!!!"
"Ah Grant You THREE Automotive Wishes"
"Money Space and Time are no Object."
"Mwa ha ha ha ha!!!!!!"

If I had three auto motive wishes.

1. Classic Ragtop: The '56 T-Bird I already own, but restored to 100 point condition.

2. Everyday Driver: Chopped and dropped 1953 K pillered Studebaker Speedster Coupe with a twin roatary engine conversion under the hood.

3. Classic Ragtop 2: 1952 Jag XK 120 Drohead coupe. No car ever looked so sexy, standing still.

And since I am the Genie, I'm cheating and also getting a Classic Norton 850 Commando.

My three dream cars...

1. 2003 BMW Z8
2. 1992 Ferrari F40 or 2008 Ferrari F430
3. Porsche 356 speedster

I'm probably missing an Aston Martin DB9 somewhere in there..

cheers,

I must admit I do love your taste for European Iron. I'm just amazed that no "whale tail" made it on your list.

As fer you Tex, yeah, a Top Fuelie AND the track to run it on is a bit "much".

Not much love for classic iron I see. And I thought I'd get at least ONE vote for the Batmobile/Tumbler?

Jaybo, I don't know how it is down there in your neck of the woods, but you can find plenty of 'em in Indy. Mebbe check Craigslist...pretty reasonable too.

Mebbe I'll snap one up next summer, drive down there and we'll go cruisin' for them hot chicas in Priuses you keep talkembout. Tomorrow I'm going to test drive something a little more practical for winter...

What a great thread...kinda took me down memory lane. Before I even had a car I was aware of the concusive allure of speed. A formative moment in my understanding of what a car could be was opening the Car&Driver December 2006 issue about the famed MB AMG "Hammer".

Even after all these years I remember the line..."Beware the Jabberwocky" somewhere in that article and, in retrospect, it makes sense. These were the post Miami Vice years in which every bad guy had some pimped-out, flared-up Benzo for his bags o' coca, posse and rat-a-tat-gats. Naturally, the Benz boyz gotta come out with a sedan that goes 189 mph while not eschewing the obligatory wet bar and twin tvs.

Maybe that's why I never "got into" cars for many years after that. I knew I'd never achieve that level of perfection...or maybe it was the thirteen points I accumulated my first semester of college while driving an RX-7 turbo...a nice car but not nearly the same. I heard the main cat from AMG took a walk and started his own gig which flourished while AMG became an aftermarket option on just about every model. I think the new incarnation of the bad-boy Merc was "Lorinser"

Thanks for the thread Worfster, good read.

The first is pretty easy:

Talbot Lago T150 by Figoni et Falaschi (quite possibly the most beautiful car ever made)

A formative moment in my understanding of what a car could be was opening the Car&Driver December 2006 issue about the famed MB AMG "Hammer". One of the great muscle sedans of its day. Interesting fact: The engine was designed and built by Porsche.

Thanks for the thread Worfster, good read.Hans Werner Aufrecht sold AMG to Mercedes in the '90's. They now use AMG to compete with BMW's "M" motorsports division. Aufrecht formed HWA, which has been very successful racing MB's in Touring Car and has replaced McLaren as contractor on their new mid-engined supercar which will replace the SLR.

Brabus is the tuner you're probably thinking about. Formed by a former AMG engineer, the Bullitt (no relation to Ford or Steve McQueen) is a C class based rocket that will touch 224mph. That's no joke.

shortly, but I havent seen one here in Lexington in year and a half, if that means anything to ya.

I've been thinking about getting a Jag for a while now. If it's in a good enough shape for me to drive it 3,4 times a month, I wouldn't mind getting one for $3K.

Have I hijacked this thread?

Here is something that is very limited.

Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune. Only 20 in the world.

Great taste there, Feanor. A lot of people think the F430 is the best sports car on the planet right now. I've never had the pleasure of driving one, but I think I'd still rather have a Ford GT. I'm I sucker for a hot body. :ihih:

I'm surprised no one wants a Lambo. My buddy just got a Murcielago Roadster and it's quite a car. Pictures make it look huge, but it barely touches your belt buckle. 580hp, no waiting.

Now folks are startin' to understand that this thread is all about "motorized masturbation". Cars you've lusted after since puberty hit, cars you'll probably never, ever own but cars you could sit and dream about all day. Hey jrhymeammo, that's the only other car this side of one of those Z's from Nissan that I actually find quite sexy.
Very muscular, reminds me of a Mustang done right.

I used to lust over cars.. now I lust over a Naim CDX2/282/250/SC/Fraim system with an LP12/DV-20XL/EkosSE/Armageddon/Superline. Figure I only need another $40-50K for upgrades to build my dream system, if I truly lost my mind. For now I'll enjoy my system which is great as it is, just as I love my daily driver.

Nice 'Cuda, dean.

I must say for looks I like the original much better than the current-day retro/tribute car. (Didin't someone around here get one recently? The new ones are pretty nice, just not quite as much so.) I feel the same about the original Mustangs versus the current knock-off.

American big-iron has limited appeal for me, though. In my pipedreams I look to the European marques -- like say this Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
