I was just recently turned on to this site so I don't know much about it yet but wanted to share the link. You can download a free sampler album.

Thanx for the link... That is one of the very promising signs for computer audio (probably better called music server audio now though)... I've seen a few sites trying to push the concept of high resolution downloads... and I suspect it will only be a matter of time before major labels and online stores (such as itunes) start offering HD tracks...

Thanks, Mr.P. HD Tracks is very interesting. I'd recently heard of them but hadn't try dowloading as yet.

I'm definitely interested in hearing peoples' experience with them.

Thanks for sharing Mr. P. I briefly perused the site but unfortunately I didn't really find much to my liking. I noticed that the site is still in Beta so I'll check in from time to time.

Aren't HD downloads available from Bit Torrent, or some such animal?

Outrageously -- because I'm pretty sure it's illegal State-side -- you can get a lot of stuff, including FLAC (lossless) files from BitTorrent sources.

For a good BitTorrent search engine, check out btjunkie (http://btjunkie.org/). You'll need a BitTorrent client to download such as μTorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/). Let your concience be your guide.

Hmmm... My conscience tells me to stay away. I've got plenty of music sources avalaible to me without loading more complicated muckity muck to my PC right now.

Boy, you said it, I don't even download and have about 5 different music management softwares and 3 or 4 different players, just from what comes with my computer, included with mp3 players etc. I guess that's what the "unintall" feature is for once I can determine what isn't necessary. My wife got me a Sandisk for Father's Day and I had to install Rapsidy before the stupid thing would charge. That should be a crime. If it wasn't a gift I would have taken it back out of principle.

Thanks for the link. I jumped right in, installed what needed to be installed, and downloaded the full, uncompressed files. Running it out through iTunes into the office system, it sounds very nice.

Tomorrow I'll take it down to the music room and run it through AirTunes in a big system to really test it out. There's some good music here that I normally wouldn't pick, so thanks for keeping me open and exploring.

Oh yeah. When you download the free sampler you get an email coupon code for a 20% discount. That puts albums down below iTunes prices by a dime or two.

Let's see, there are six Academy of St. Martins in the Fields albums, Robert Cray, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Norah Jones, Blue Oyster Cult... oh my.
