I'm not hearing why this album is lavishing such praise from some of you. It's all build-up and anticipation with a dribble of a payoff, at best. Me, I like music that shoots for the headboard, so to speak.

It's not the style that bores me per se. Here (http://www.mediafire.com/?mmmyxgxmrz9) is an example of something along these same lines that does it for me (this song should be pretty well-known by a few people around here).

Weird how some music doesn't click for me even when I know it should.

Who peed in your Cheerios? Did you like Palo Santo? If not, I guess the new one wouldn't be to your liking either.

Swish - even crabbier than Slosh

Well, sometimes you do venture 'round the bend with the changy-changy-jingle-jangley...but there's nothing wrong with "shoots for the headboard".

It's just that this disc has a level of aural complexity married to dynamics that allows it to more closely approximate "musicality", and while "Rook" isn't designed for smokin' a J and smackin' fanny it represents a bit of a harkening for the genre---not unlike watching "Citizen Kane" on film in an old theater compared to watching it on VOD from your laptop.
