I just started a new job. Apparently all the rage is having a catchy phrase or comment as a tagline on all your emails.

Most run from sappy to insprational.

I would also like to have a catchy phrase. However, I would like something inane, yet not offensive. I can't use any vulgar, or sexual phrases, or anything using swear words.

So does anyone have anything useless, but confusing at the same time? Or stupid, but that make you appear to be "intelligent"?

Remember, I don't want to be fired, but would like to stand out!

My catchy phrase is "Systems Analyst".

"Res Ipsa Loquitur" is the first thing that came to mind, everyhting else was vulgar or suggestive. I'll apply myself and report back.

I used "No slogan" for a while

..."Sybaritical Bon Vivant" ? Loosely translated, it's supposed to mean "Lover of the Good Life". Many years ago, I knew a man who had this printed on his business cards.

You want him to buy a catchy phrase from ebay?

A friend of mine puts this on her emails. I'm not spiritual by any stretch of the word but I like the implications of it nonetheless...

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Personally, I love the Bowie line,

I'd rather stay here with all the madmen than perish with the sad men roaming free. But your collegues may not like being referred to as madmen.

How about this old African proverb:

What a youth can not see standing up, an elder can see sitting down.

or this:

A youth can have fine robes like an elder, but a youth can never have rags like an elder.

I lost my big collections of signatures and am still trying to rebuild. My current harmless favorites include

Feng Shoo: The Art of Displacement

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd hire a midget roofer.

at least in the research field, you can get a lot of mileage out of

The Unknown
As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.

How about, "Are we having fun yet?"
Or, "Oh, Daddy!"
Or, "Nebs!"

I try to keep a file of 'em....
