I've decided to get the Yamaha HTR-5650 receiver and now I need to get a pair of floor standing speakers to go with it. I listened to Athena's at my local Best Buy and they sounded pretty good. I don't want to spend over $400 for the pair no matter what I get. I also need to get the center channel speaker as well. I'd like to keep that under $200. Any suggestions? I have a pair of Jamo S60 for the rears I can use for now.

and it's matching center channel.

You're gonna want to save up for a subwoofer as well though.

check out B&W 601S3s...they're not floor standers, but they have pretty good sound and are about $400 without stands.
Also the paradigm monitor 3 or 5s are worth looking at...don't limit yourself to best buy and circuit city

I guess I should mention that I'm in California and would like to audition the speakers before purchase. It looks like the B&W's are a UK brand. Are they available over here? Also, just how important is it to have the center speaker be the same brand as the 2 main speakers?

If you want to shop at your local best buy then you should try out the yamaha floor standing speakers. I have one for over a year and they sound great for audio or home video. Try the dual 6 inch driver tower. It sounds much better than the dual 8 inch driver tower for some reason.
