I need a HDMI cable for my BD player. I only need about a 6' cable. I would like something good/ very good and would be willing to pay more for it.

I realize there is some controversy regarding how much difference a "high end" cable really makes, but just point me in the direction of something that would be considered good quality without getting crazy.

And I hate Monster cables so let's stay away from those. :)

oh and could I use a 1.3 HDMI cable with this player:

I mean, is it compatable? I am not even sure what the deal with 1.3 is. :(

Thanks for any input !!

I found a 1.3 compliant Belkin for around $40.00 that holds it's own against my Tributaries which cost twice as much. Tributaries is a good cable just be sure you have their newer product if you want 1.3 compliance. Both of this cables have a good firm connection.

With HDMI you do want a good quality cable but don't buy a thick heavy cable, sometimes it can cause the plug not to keep a good connection, especially if your plugging into something higher up, like in a component rack.

Either http://www.bluejeanscable.com or http://www.monoprice.com.

Both provide a good balance between quality materials, solid construction, and fair prices and will answer any questions you might have.

I 2nd bluejeanscable.

Wow, I looked up that player and can't believe that it doesn't decode TrueHD. What a freakin' rip. Seems the studios are starting to favor DTSMA and TrueHD more....even Disney just dropped their first TrueHD title. Kinda messed up these players aren't future proof. Wonder if they can be updated.

I agree. The player also comes with composite cables. I mean, are you serious?? Why even put any cables in the box. It's sort of a slap in the face.

To get TrueHD and 1.3 compatibility I would have to spend another $200 for this one:

I just can't justify it for that price. Plus Sony is suppossed to be coming out with a new line of BD players this summer so I will probably just upgrade around Christmas when I have some more $$.

Thanks for that info. Just what I needed to hear.

I might suggest DH Labs Siversonic.

I have been very happy with DH Lab products.

I looked at the S500, one of the reviewers must have gotten a model that needed a firmware update, he was unhappy about freezing up and slow load. The s2000 looks interesting, I wonder how much actual PQ difference there would be for $700.00 more? It does mention actually outputting D-HD/DTS-MA. Some of the cheaper players are a bit misleading in that they mention playing the discs in the description but don't actually decode it.
