Local radio just reported that Rik Emmett and Gil Moore are actually discussing a Triumph reunion and North American tour. But first they want to be sure that they can have fun on stage together.

Man, this would be bigger than Hell freezing over. Really, when these guys split up...they SPLIT UP! They have had nothing nice to say about each other since. I saw interviews with both of them several years ago and Emmett still seemed very bitter about money that he thought was owed him.

Both of them seem to be doing okay financially. Moore still owns Metal Works studio as far as I know. And Emmett teaches guitar courses at a local college and still travels and performs frequently (we're seeing him in May).

I really hope this reunion doesn't happen. I loved Triumph and I just can't stand the thought of them playing the washed-up Casino tour and county fairs.

I wouldn't mind if they toured and played small venues like the Sellersville Theater, 600 seats. I have not gone to see Rick solo due to the crappy locations he plays at with standing room only and no fire exits.

I saw Triumph without knowing who they were in 1978 or 79 at the Tower in Philly. It was one of those what do you want to do tonight things and we noticed the show so just went. It was one of the best 3 pc band shows I ever saw. Wireless was not real big back then but Emmett was using it and played throughout the auditorium and balcony for a while. Smoke and light show was also superior to most other.

Blinding Light Show became a long time fav for me after the show. It's a real shame that Stages is one of the all time worst recordings, and does not have BLS on it.

LOL, I was being conservative to account for bands Like Porky Tree and some Jazz/Fusion artists but when it comes t just Rock, 95% is more accurate.

Are there any 'just rock' bands in the current scene? Oh, there are some good progressive rock bands, or prog bands is a more accurate description, I guess. Sure, they sound like someone else, but so has everyone else up to this point.

Try a band like Pure Reason Revolution, Echolyn, Umphrey's McGee or Beardfish for some modern takes on 'just rock'. Though they are still prolly going to remind you of someone else, they are a notch or two above neo-prog.

Agreed, I like the Echolyn from Dimitrio's comps and I have Umphreys McGee Safety in Numbers. I think my problem is mostly every newer "Rock" band screams instead of sings. Where is the passion of a Phil Collins from And Then There Were Three or Trick of the Tail? Granted there is one or two by Creed where the guy actually sings. I also like Open Arms by Incubus, no screaming there. Although maybe not rock, I got into a little Jamiroqui after seeing a few videos on the Tube. He sounds a lot like Stevie Wonder singing at times...lol, sounds like someone else again, damn.

Cheers 3LB, I'm going to see Room Full Of Blues on Friday, they are a 35 y/o band.

We saw Rick Emmett tonight (I guess technically it was last night). Awesome show, as always. We see him perform about once a year and it's always a different show and always entertaining.

He said that he's practiced with the rest of the guys from Triumph every day last week. There are a couple of shows in the U.S. already scheduled and if those go well then they'll discuss a larger tour next year.

I guess the saying "never say never" applies in this case. Although Rik did make a comment about "if the cheques actually come in" so all is not forgotten. :nono:

True, but I'll take the 5% and be happy to never hear these geezers again.

There has been plenty of great music recorded over the last 20 years, and I have quite a collection of it in my cd cases. Triumph never was, nor ever will be, among them. Next FA will be singing the praises of that other great Canadian band, Loverboy.

Somewhere, the ex-members of Glass Tiger are scrambling to reassemble

They never disassembled. Just faded into irrelevance (that's assuming that anyone ever thought they were relevant).

You know who I'd love to see get back together? Images in Vogue. I loved that band!
