I am new to the forum. I have been reading home theater articles for years. I have a half way decent setup upstairs with my 52" rear projection tv, older HK receiver and polk audio towers and surrounds.

I am building new setup downstairs now. I have a 42" Philips 1080P LCD flat panel. So far it is awesome. I really like the ambilight and it looks great in HD. It is going to be mounted on the wall eventually. I am doing some research on components and speakers right now. I orginally wanted to put inwall speakers. I am swaying a bit from that now due to installation and worried about sound. So next is something that will blend in with the tv. After looking around online today I found some Athena WS-60s on Amazon. They look pretty cool. So I am now leaning towards something like this for my fronts and center. They would mount perfectly by the tv. I am also going to build/buy a decent sub and in ceiling speakers for the rears. But for now my main focus are the fronts first.

So if anyone else has any other suggestions or feedback on the Athenas I would appreciate it.

Thanks

For the on-wall speakers check out Axiom.com, they have some nice on wall speakers you could demo in home and return if you don't like them (pay return shipping though.) The nice thing about these is they offer a variety of finishes and custom finishes as well (for more $$$). So you could really get whatever look you want. Check it out:

Before settling on Athena you might want to check this out.

I'm not suggesting you should or should not buy them. However, I would think twice before doing so.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say welcome!

Let me clarify by saying Athenas can sound very nice. I would want to insure that parts and service would be available and not end up with an orphaned product.

Thanks for the welcome and suggestions. I found a B&W dealer near my work that I will have to check out. I have always heard they make awesome speakers. I really like the idea of the on wall speaker design with a flat panel tv hanging on the wall.

I am not to worried about parts and service. I've never had a problem with any of my speakers through the years. My big old pioneers from high school and college still work..

I will do a little more research, maybe I'll be ready in a month or two for them. I still have to buy a receiver... I am thinking of going with an Onkyo 6 series...

zig,

Not to plug my own speakers, but I am getting a tremendous amount of mileage out of these:

Highly recommended. They don't make the silver ones anymore (only the piano black ones - identical in specs, just different looks), but that means that these can be had on the used market for about half price. Truly amazing speakers.
