Tdl Rtl3 Mkii

Can anyone guide me toward having an opinion of these (approx 15 year old) Transmission Line speakers?

I collect old audio magazines that have Apogees in them, and saw some TDL's in there also. Generally they have great bass extension and speed for their size, good build quality and get recommended a lot.

They seem to get good reviews on AR but I think are considered more as a party speaker..

which seems to suggest that they are a bit 'cheap'. I'm a bass guy but I do like resolution. If I get a good deal I may go for it.
