Week 7: 25 Saddest Songs

Or should I say 'weak' 7? This one was unexpected but a good call for sure, and one from a guy who's not exactly mainstream. And the wiener is Beck - Lost Cause (2002)

The Breakdown: The postmodern trickster reaches back to the Romantic era for the most depressing song on his breakup album, 'Sea Change.'

The Waterworks: "I'm tired of fighting/Fighting for a lost cause."

Casualty Count: The one love of your life.

I wasn't too fond of Sea Change when it came out, still not, but that was a good tune and fits the category.

I'll admit that it took me several spins to really appreciate this album, although I always liked this song and still think it's the highlight of the entire album, but after getting the SACD and listening for a bit I must say this album is just stunning and deserves a second chance, or maybe even third chance, especially if you can grab the 5.1 SACD mix!!!
