Since 1999, Sony/Columbia pictures have been releasing Three Stooges in bits and pieces here and there with overpriced "themed" collections and mucked up reissues of the same two reelers over and over again. With questionable picture quality.
But now fans prayer have been answered.
Last week, Sony released the Stooges' first 19 two-reel comedies for Columbia Pictures in chronological order titled The Three Stooges Collection - Volume One - 1934-1936 ($20). Also the picture have been cleaned up that simply look outstanding.
The only question, of course, is whether Sony will release new volumes at a steady clip and actually commit itself to the entire team's long run of nearly 200 shorts.
