Now that I have one of my front speakers in the shop being repaired, is it bad to use my HT system with ony one front speaker? I won't crank it, but I was hoping I could still listen to it while watching tv and a few movies because it may be a couple of weeks until I get the speaker back from the shop.

Go right ahead :)

And if you have the opportunity, pick up some mono LP's, you might even ditch stereo altogether!

Yeah, and you can crank it too.

Great avatar, BTW.

I couldn't find the original, but this is pretty good:

I though we had hunted down the last of you guys.

The ONLY reason "stereo" exists is the limitations of the LP record.
it was supposed to be three channel originally but they couldnt fit a third channel on
so it became two channel with spatial imaging replacing the center channel..
In other words "stereo" is actually three channel "surround" with a phantom center.
AND so your moms HTIB sounds sucky, you're suprized?
My aunt (and a few million others) had a "console" stereo with a record changer in the top.
THAT SUCKED TOO!
Its like the crack ho told me,
You want quality , you gotta pay for it.
Doesnt mean surround is bad any more than a "yardis" means all cars suck:incazzato:

In the user manuals (yeah, i read them) I have seen it says: 'Do not use without a speaker hooked up to the channel' . I puzzled over it, but complied. An open circuit should be okay, but...

So anyway - check with your manual first (download off the OEM site if you have to).
