I currently have a 5.1 setup shown in my signature. The Blu-ray player is connected to my receiver via 7.1 composite cables as to use the decoder built-in. The sound is amazing but am I missing something by not adding surround back speakers? My couch is right against the back wall and can't be positioned anywhere else so would surround back speakers even be effective or just a waste of money?

I'm not sure how much you would be missing. With your couch up against the back wall, I don't think that the rear speakers would help much at all for you. You need more room behind you for them to add much.

Yeah I agree with GM, forget about the backs. I'm in your same situation and have no choice but to run a 5.1. Sounds good to me, and I never feel that I'm missing out on anything. Not too many 7.1 BR out there anyways.
