Ok, I should have posted that instead of just mentioning the Ramones at the Palladium so more of you would check this out. No, I don't have anything to do with the site, so this isn't an advertisement. A brother-in-law sent me the link and I was amazed at the stuff they have there. Besides a large batch of classic concerts you can order and watch for $9.98 each, they have a ton of posters, t-shirts and other memorabilia for rock fans.

As for the shows, that's what interests me most. Just a smattering of those available:

If there's such a thing as honor among bootleggers, and I think there is, most would be horrified to see bootleg recordings sold. There are any number of places to get these shows for free. My personal fave (another plug) is www.Dimeadozen.org Not only are these shows free, they have thousands upon thousands of them and they're all in a lossless format. The one down side is that there are almost always 100,000 registered users and it's hard to get access. Determination can prevail as they clean out old accounts all the time. Just this weekend I downloaded the following:

The National -White sessions 2007
Andrew Bird - Live 2007 (killer)
Of Montreal - another 2007 show
The Beatles - Acoustic Masterpieces which is a 2 disc set that's been floating around the bootleg community for years and I figured I'd at least listen to it.

Here are the most current stats:

Available torrents: 19,633
New within 24 hrs.: 113
Currently seeded: 10,411
Active rate: 53%

There are others such as purelivegigs.com that are much easier to gain access to although it's not nearly as cool.

Just don't want anyone spend a ton of money on something that wants to be free.

archive.org has some good Andrew Bird shows as well. And The Black Heart Procession and Calexico/Iron & Wine, and Spoon, and The Decemberist . . .

Isn't that backwards? Graham had as much right as anyone to the soundboards from his own venues. Technically speaking, the house has legal rights to any soundboard or audience recording unless a prior arrangement is made. (Usually, the only right ever exercised is a security guard taking your recorder away.) Also, a lot of that stuff on the web site is radio stuff like Westwood, etc. That Ramones/Palladium is a King Biscuit recording isn't it? It only becomes a "bootleg" when the mob sells it or guys like you & me trade it or download it.
