Kenwood Ar-404

I have a Kenwood AR-404 that keeps shutting down when I turn up the volume. Someone mentioned I can reset the unit so this does not keep happening. When I use bookshelve speakers this does not happen. It is with larger speakers.

Hi David, what loudspeakers are you trying to drive with this stereo receiver? Are they 8-ohm or 4-ohm speakers?

I'm thinking the same thing as elapsed. I inherited an older version of that receiver, the 104-AR, with my current house. The unit it really designed for use with 8 ohm speakers. Lower impedance speakers will draw more current and cause the shutdown.
