its all about the fronts for me (so basically kef's iq9 vs polk's RTi12), and i would obviously get matching surrouds/centers to with them, but what is your input on these speakers? im leaning more towards polk because it looks like it can take more power (using 130wpc onkyo with plans to bi-amp the fronts), but their numbers given might be misleading. every polk speaker ive come across sounds full (needing subwoofer, of course), but i love the sound of any kef system. its hard to find these speakers to audition around here.

using the new onkyo 805, if thats any help.

My affiliation aside - I just can't get into the new KEF's. They just have a hard edge on the top end, that even my best Mullard EL34's can't tame. I've been a KEF fan for years, loved the Cresta series for value-minded Hifi, and the classic, 103, 104, 105 are speakers you NEED to hear in your lifetime.

Then again, one man's bright, is another man's detail.

Cheers,
Russ

Russ,

I would agree. the newer KEFs are a little edgier than those of yore. I own a mint pair of 107s. Besides owning 104/2s and 103/2s, I also have owned the 107/2s, which I sold, because I preferred the seamless natural character of the original 107s. The 107/2 had a metal dome tweeter.

Adam, if you have the dosh, and are willing to go for used speakers, the Polk RT3000p are awesome. Just be warned, if you get these, your also going to crave the matching centre channel (CS1000p) and rear surrounds (F/X1000). As I mentioned in another thread - I wish I never sold my pair...
