marantz 4230 help

Hi! I bought a secondhand Marantz 4230 receiver 12 years ago. When I switch to 4x12 watts mode it works fine but when I switch to 2x30 w mode the right channel loses almost 3/4 of the sound. I've never had it serviced and it has always been like that. Secondly, I get no sound at all through main rear speaker connections. Any ideas why? Thanks.
