I could not respond to your request for some reason.

Please just start a thread on the speaker asylum at audioasylum. This link http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/speakers/bbs.html and I will respond.

I say this because there are a number of Audio Note AN E owners who can also chime in. Mention Audio Note in the thread title and use your Potlicker name so I'll know it's you.

Plus you may get a lot more helpful alternatives. The AN E D retails for $2700.00US.

Richard.

I have only listened to the AN E/SEC which is the upper model of this line. I have not heard a better speaker of any design for classical music and that can also perform rock to this level. There is an sense of effortlessness to the sound. It was an all AN system however.

Again that is MY opinion. Some people may want a diffrent type of presentation for their needs. If the AN E/D sounds 80% as good as the SEC which I bet it does, then I would take it over the N801 or N802 from B&W at considerably less money. You do not need to spend tons of money to get high end.

They are not perfect...I think the review by Hi-Fi choice is relatively fair and the speaker does not pinpoint the soundstage as well as some others...but then again you also don't have to keep your head in one exact spot like most slim lines around now.

This review will tell you about what's inside.

Basically the AN E D beat out some very nice far more expensive comers. Had I known it was not too much more for the AN E D I would have considered that route. Oh well.

Some of the folks who own AN E variations have made reviews which might help:

I'm not entirely sure that the AN E/D is still being made. The AN E/L may be the lowest model nowadays in the E series.
