Can anyone recommend a good HDMI splitter that will take a single HDMI output and split it to two outputs? One would be my projector, the other would be an LCD TV and there would be no need to have both on at the same time.

I've seen some that are around $250-$300 and I wasn't expecting one to cost that much, but then again I want no signal loss and I don't want to switch it manually....I just want it to take one output and split it to two that would be active all the time. So, I'm open to any suggestions!

Cant you use your reciever to split the signal? Then use something like a Harmony Remote to switch sources on demand? I don't think that you can actually split it like you are asking. Isn't there some sort of copy protection scheme that wont allow that type of splitting?

No, my preamp only has one output (actually DVI but I'm using HDMI/DVI cables) so I can only hook one display to it but I need two (my wife does not need to watch freaking Oprah on my projector!). Source switching is not a problem, it's output switching that I need.

Whilst poking around I found this one which looks perfect on paper:

But has anybody used this one?

I got the 1 into 2 from kvm for 25 bucks, and a cable for another 20 or so.
For that price I can switch manually.
There is practically no signal loss, as there shouldnt be since you are dealing with digital signals, and they dont degrade too much

Well I went ahead and got this one, and it works like a champ:

I do appreciate all the suggestions, but most of them were for switchers (for multiple sources), and I needed a splitter (for multiple displays).

A splitter can be a switcher and vice versa, just reverse the cables

But with a reversed switcher, wouldn't you have to actually switch it according to which output you wanted? Plus you wouldn't be able to run both outputs at the same time?
