"If the porn industry wanted to break the logjam of HD-DVD and Blu-ray, it could," McQuivey said. "If they said 'We are going to go with HD-DVD' you would see a few million homes immediately go out and buy HD-DVD players. They have that power."

This was discussed a few weeks (months). I thought perhaps it could help decide, but because of the proliforation of access to adult material versus beta vs VHS day.

Now you can d/l it (much for free...I've been told) on the internet, DVD titles abound, and frankly, I am not sure if I want to see a pimply rear in HD glory.

Most porn actresses look good at a distance, but are a little rough up close (12" or closer).

So, I think that the influence of porn is not as great as it once was.

But, then again, porn does influence technology more than some would like to admit. P2P networks were not just invented to swap free songs ya know...

I the most it could do is help a weaker format survive a bit longer. If that. I don't see porno fans being on the leading edge of HT technology, and I don't think the appeal is there as much as with Hollywood films. For one, production's much more expensive, and I doubt most porno studio's will bother with 1080i or p, 5.1 surround sound in lossless etc. In the end, the big studios are likely to have the most influence - the consumer a distant second. Grrr...

Actually the technology is there for cheap Hi-Quality filming. You can buy a HD camcorder for around $1000, and it films in 1080i, and 5.1 surrond. For a porn producer, its not that expensive actually.

Unless its VIVID, or another of the major players that does professional production, you would just need to do it on your own.

With a decent computer, you could do it for less that $5,000 for a film. Just slap the "amature" label on it, and your golden. With digital distribution its all money in the bank. Now if I can just quit my day job, move to LA, and find some "models" I might just have another career.

Oh wait, I doubt my wife will allow that.:ihih:

I agree here, HD porn can only hurt the porn industry, most of those porn skanks are pretty rough looking up close. A blurry VHS tape is much better :)
