Does anybody have any recommendations for a universal DVD player. I am looking more for audio mostly SACD, but only want one player. I have been checking out Denon and Arcam. Help?

Denon 2910 or 3910 if you can find it at that price point.

Denon, Arcam, or Pioneer.

I'd give Arcam's picture 8 points, and its sound about 6. The bad thing about it is you can not audition it. You just have to do it. Recently, Arcam has made a lower and affordable line for DVD players with Hdmi avail.. At the time I was on it a while back, it cost more than $1K to get one with hdmi.

The Sony ES series is very critically acclaimed. I bought a slightly used Sony DVP-NS999ES DVD SACD player for $250 on Ebay (it retailed for $1200). I added some dampening to the inside and it sounds fabulous... very detailed.

And that is exactly what I've been working on. Where do you get the dampening material from?
My brother has this Sony ES model. I once borrowed and tested side by side with my two Elites (model 46 and 79) couple of months ago. Though it sounded way better than any $150-$200 dvds out there (exclude the Oppos), this Sony ES still sounded a little less detail than mine Elites, and because it didn't have hdmi, so its picture quality was quite far off. If I'm looking for a $200 DVD with great sound; this is the one, but for a little more, at $300, I would still prefer over the new Pioneer Elite -46dv that I reviewed last month.
On the other note, I came over his house yesterday to audition his Arcam-29, again. Because his system and room (non-treated) is diff from mine (well treated and could go totally dark), so I couldn't tell how good it actually was. But most importantly, I wasn't impresed with it. We were working on to set up his new OutLaw receiver 950 but that's another topic.
I used a combo of car speaker dampening sheets and that blue putty like material for tacking posters, etc. The sheets come in square sheets about the size of a record album cover, and then I cut it into pieces. It's like a sticker, where you peel one side off, but it's real thick, sticky and rubbery like. You can buy it in the car stereo departments of the big box stereo stores.

Great, both of my DVD Elite 46 and 79 models are on the top 9 dvd players. I told y'all they are great in both picture and sound catergory.
