OK, total newbie here needing some info:

I just bought this sytem:
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=33&sortBy=price&productId=2541

The rear surround sound cables are 20ft. long. I need to extend them by another 30ft. What is the easiest way to do this and will it affect the sound quality? Can I just by some 12 gauge speaker cable and connect it to the existing cable? There are no connectors, just bare wire that is crimped into the speaker.

Thanks!

If I were you, I'd totally replace the existing witre with 12 gauge and do the entire run with one piece of 12 gauge cable*. Here', length and gauge IS an issue. The longer the run, the thicker the cable should be. And, 50 feet is a pretty long run no matter how you slice it.

* Not to say a well done splice would normally be audiable, but if you're gonna do a job, do it right. One continous run is always preferable.

yea definetely just go buy more wire. it will be much better then if you just ad more on.

go get some 12 or 14 gauge and do the whole run with it.

I did new straight 50ft. runs like you two suggested. It works great. Thanks so much!
