Which model? Are they Class A? See to have plenty of heat sinking.

Its a KRS (Krell Reference Series) 200 Model. All the way Class A, doesnt know what a bias is :-)

I'm not a big fan of Krell, but all that heatsinking is gorgeous.

I guess when you turn that on, that you're sucking away a whole city's power...

How much power does that thing output???
How much does it weigh?

Georgeous amp!

Rock on,

I am not quite sure, but the beatuy of this unit is not so much its unbiased 100% pure class A operation, it will literally drive a dead short. My friend runs 6 of these amplifiers on his 2 channel Apogee Fulrange speaker. The last time i asked him he suggested over 160 ampere of current!

I love those huge power amps that weigh a ton. Nothing like brute force amplification, with a little finesse of course. This baby is pure class A all the way. Who cares about electrical bills here. Just give me the power! Too bad they don't make stuff like this any more. Sniff :frown5:

so what is this then? :cornut:

http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/mcprod/shopdisplayproducts.asp?hid=1&id=14&cat=Power+Amplifiers&prodid=1115&product=MC2KW

there are still plenty of huge, heavy, and overpriced amps out there, but they are quite expensive, so more people will have 'lighter' amps (which still weigh quite alot)...

Keep them spinning,
Bert.

huge indeed, but it should be, where are you going to get the 8KW peaks from otherwise... :cornut:

I wonder how Mcintosh fits my advents though...

Keep them spinning,
Bert.

Just read about any of the major show reports, like CES, Rocky Mountain Audio, etc. You're bound to see them in droves. The problem is, they cost too much for most of us to afford them.

The McIntosh MC2KW output module weighs 121 lbs. The power module weighs 158 lbs. You need two of them power modules. The combined weight per channel comes to 437 lbs. For two channels it comes to 874 lbs. I did say I love big heavy amps but this is ridiculous. Not only will I break my back carrying them, I'll break my bank account. Only the insane need apply. But wait! aren't we all audiophiles insane to some extent?
