hi, i'd really appreciate your help regarding the following question:

i have a sony STR-AV910 amp/receiver. on the back it says it's 210W. would it be ok to hook it up with vintage 35W speakers? (i.e., would the speakers be able to handle it?)

again, thanks in advance for helping!!!!!

The one you read is the maximum electrical power needed for the receiver. The power output rating by the spec is likely about 100W per channel and this is likely overrated. Don't worry about this wattage rating, your speaker will be able to handle the receiver.

... you can pretty much hook up any speaker to any amplifier (within it's impedance limits) and do fine AS LONG as you listen for any sounds of distress. If these occur, turn it down immediately.

Or, in other words, if it sounds bad, turn it down NOW. To continue stressing them risks damage to the speaker and possibly the amp.
