I am looking into a new DVD player I'm interested in the Oppo 981 the Cambridge Audio DVD89 or the Denon 1930.
My TV is a HD ready Hitachi 46F500 CRT RP. It has DVI and Componet Video connections. I'm also wondering since this is not a pixel type TV would the Componet video inputs be better or should I stay with the DVI/HDMI connections, and is there any loss in using a DVI/HDMI converter?
Thanks

As for which DVD player performs better in video or audio, I'll abstain, since I haven't try them. The question about component relative to DVI I/O can't be answered definitively without testing. Since neither option can avoid D/A conversion when a CRT is involved, that drawback cancels out. And how well each option performs is partly a matter of implementation and execution, particularly on a TV. You certainly don't need DVI or HDMI unless copy protection should rear its ugly head, but a degree of difference could be evident, even if only on test screens.

Just to add: I don't think there's any loss in DVI/HDMI converter...

I recently bought the oppo 981 and am happy with it's performance. Something to be aware of though is that it does not have component outs. If you're using a receiver with an hdmi input or if your television has an hdmi input, you'll be ok. The oppo has only composite and s video then skips to hdmi. Very strange me thinks.
