As I contemplate transferring vinyl to CD/computer hard drive, the thought hit me: Wouldn't it be great if there were a simple way of connecting the line outputs (L&R) of a receiver to a front panel USB port on the computer? I have a cable that will go from the RCA output to a 1/8" stereo mini jack on the computer's sound card, but that method requires hauling the computer out of its slot in my computer desk and navigating the cable clutter on the back of the mini-tower.

I Googled "RCA to USB" and found something called the Inport. Has anybody used this device, or anything like it?

Thanks in advance.

And, this "inport" appears to be just the ticket.

Without that A/D converter, what you're asking to do is like putting an RCA plug on an FM antenna and expecting to receive FM stations.

This is what I use. $40. I use it as a USB to Analog DAC. But it runs in reverse as well.

Cool. Have you used the Final Vinyl software at all? If so, how easy to use is it?

No, I don't even own vinyl. But, I'm sure if you ask around there's likely to be excellent free software that will do the trick...I think I recall software called Audacity being mentioned ..

Ok, 3 secs to google and here's the link. If it doesn't do the trick start a new thread for reccomendations! Good luck!
