My local station airing Mission Impossible TV series, and must say even after 40 years, this show still hold up pretty. Steven Hill was the head agent in the first season, but was replaced (due to hectic schedule) with Peter Graves which imo was much better choice.

I seen M:I with Tow Cruise, and it doesn’t have the depth original series had. May be some other lead actor beside Tom Cruise can better capture the spirit of this excellent TV series.

The criticism of the movies, from die-hard fans of the show, is that the show was always about the team. It was an ensemble performance, and to make it a one-man show borders on heresy.

Yeah, everyone had their own piece of the puzzle to work on. It would all come together in the end. The movie was more like a James Bond does America thing.

But James Bond work alone to save the world (with a sexy sidekick :D), and sometimes it seem Tom Cruise is doing the same thing. If you look at the original TV show, nobody is "star" of show (and as Dusty Chalk said) they all work as one team. Where in the movie, they focused too much on star Tom Cruise.

And I think the movie alienated alot of TV show fans by portraying Graves character as a traitor. May be the movie producer wanted to cut the any ties with the TV show :)
