Hi,

I'm new to the forum and just picked up a set of Polk LS50 speakers at good price and need help selecting the correct receiver/amp to get the best sound out of these speakers. I'm mainly after just trying to get the most clarity that I can out of these speakers. I'm replacing a system that got fried by lightning and now on a budget.

I'm not into surround sound at all and have no plans of going this route. Just two channels, 2 speakers in front and a sub down the road.

Should I power these with it's own amp, or will a good 2 channel receiver do just as good? Polk suggests an amp rated from 20-250 watts. What is a good receiver and or amp combo for my application? Maybe an amp and just a tuner? Thanks!--Marblehead

I ended up buying a harmon/kardon 3480 receiver. Seems to be doing to the job just fine. Thanks anyway.--Marblehead

good choice, H/K amps are pretty highly regarded, and thats a pretty nice model.
hope you enjoy it!
