Hello all, im am pretty new at the HT department, my wife picked me up some CW10" towers today and i was wondering what gauge of speaker wire i should be using for my towers and for my rears including my 6th channel? Any help would be great. Thank you:5:

Hey PDave,
Just use some 12 gauge OxygenFreeCopper. You can always choose to get some from a hardware store, but I think most of them have lead mixture. I would waste my money on a spool of wires made by Monster Cable(tend to be more expensive for what they offer). Or you can always spend $50,000 on 3 pairs of Valhalla.
I think you should start from 100' spool(depends on how much you need) for $30, and deceide for yourself what you want out of speaker cables.

Aside from all that, Audioquest Bedrock is cheap these days... and what's your budget?

Sounds decent, hard to beat the price, you get 50Ft for $23. Not the last word in speaker cable.
I think it sounds better and costs less that the cheaper varieties of Monster brand. I can only speak to this RS model, don't know about the others.

I would spend no more than 60$ plus shipping for lets say 50ft.

Check parts express, I think they sell a variety of bulk cables.

i use Profigold cable (yeah, you don't know that eh? cheapish things) 4mm˛ (effective cable, per side) 99.99996% OFC, paid €4 per meter, they do their job pretty well, i do think i'll upgrade them when i ever buy new speakers or a new amp.

I'm very satisfied with my 12 gauge Kimber Kable Kwik. But, I'll probably change my cables in near future for different sonic characteristic and for the hell out it. I think they are $70 for 50'.
