I was listening to Miles Davis & Gil Evans' Sketches of Spain, and I've decided that I want "Concierto de Aranjuez" played at my funeral.
You?

Cool topic...hmmm lemme think, what would be appropriate?
In the following order I choose:
bom bom bom..."Another One Bites The Dust"....
"Highway To Hell"...fitting.
"Enter the Gladiators" would be kinda funny.
But, If those are no good, just play the "Imperial March".

Handsome Family's Grandmother Waits for You would do nicely

Oooo... How morbid. "Long Black Veil" Not the Van Morrison or Cheiftains version, but the version by Mike Ness of Social Distortion. Yeah, the lyrics might not entirely make sense, but so what.
Why? I won't be able to hear it anyway.
I've been to funerals with songs. It's usually inappropriate and ALWAYS too long.
No songs for me.

Bad to the Bone
We're Having a Party
Burn Baby Burn
Heaven & Hell
I Know the Reaper
All My Love
Cremation
Not Even The Trees
One Sweet Day
Calling All Stations
(Don't Fear) The Reaper
The Great Gig in the Sky
Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden
Heaven Can Wait
Necrophobic
Slipped Away
I'm planning a big party for this day. Any of you who are still around are welcome to come.

I hope that it'll be a closed casket. Bear maulings are gruesome. :(
I don't plan on dying anytime soon, so I'm gonna hold off on choosing my song just in case it hasn't been written yet.
If BarryL is still around when I die, I'll let him pick the music. He'll, no doubt, come up with something interesting.

it is faaaaaarrr to early to think about that (logically, when you're only 16) but anyways

Marc Moulin - Memories of you
an then some party where everyone is going to be invited...

i'm thinkin' a real down-home country theme:
Ride Me Down Easy as performed by Billy Joe Shaver;
You Can Kiss My Broke Ass Goodbye - an unfinished work by yours truly which should be ready by then;
and the big send-off closer - a frenetic, genuine Appalachian version of I'll Fly Away performed live.

I've thought about this before and I don't want anyone to steal my pick (well unless I die first....)
The Eternal (song number 8) off of Closer by Joy Division
there is simply no better song for a full casket....

No songs for me.Yeah, Concierto is definitely way too long. That was part of the point. 16 minutes, slow, and there's some nice "wake up" moments.
I don't really like my family. Either that, or I have a perverse sense of humour.
That said, it is a very pretty piece, and to those 1 or 2 kids who will be wandering around bored, I'm hoping it will penetrate their skulls.
And WRT "why?" -- it's just an hypothetical question. If you don't have an answer, well good on you.

Well, for me I am going to have to go with FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND-elton john, although it would be cut shortly before it transitions into LOVE LIES BLEEDING. I would also want Mozart's REQUIEM, at least sections of course. I may also go for something like Bach's "Ich ruf' zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ" BWV 639. Hmmm, what else....
GOODBYE by Plankeye.
