Hey Darynthium, welcome to ar.com - should probably post this question in the Rave Recs forum (that's where most of the music is discussed here).

My favorite "genre" I guess would be progressive rock - bands like Yes, Dream Theater, IQ, Porcupine Tree, Rush, Genesis, King Crimson etc.

But I'm a huge fan of the Blues as well - old school Delta and Chicago style. Slowly getting in to Jazz as I get older though.

I like Classical music too, but I find it hard to listen too "on the run". I need a good hour or more to sit down and listen to Classical music. Most other music I can just listen song by song.
I like some Electronic Music - not sure if it falls under your idea of electronic but groups like The Crystal Method and those computer commercial bastards with the goofy blue make-up are ok too.

One enthusiast/audiophile likes this one or two genres, another likes different ones. Personally I think accoustic music, (music performed live without amplification), most justifies a high quality sound system, but some might disagree even with this.

I listen >90% to classical and <10% jazz and nothing else, (unless it's a bit of international or folk interspersed on FM radio). It's just me of course, but I consider other genre to be the musical analogy of fast fast food compared to gourmet. I hate rock, rap, and similar "popular" genres, and never, ever listen to them.

Ya grumpy ol' man :D
Gotta respect a man who knows what he likes.

Great analogy though. I find myself craving a Big Bacon Classic or Whopper as much as Peking duck or Chicken Cordon Bleu. To each their own.

well, welcome to ar, for starters,

i mainly listen to jazz and rock (not any rock, i like progressive, alternative, things like nirvana and other kinds, but NO commercial rock, they're to poppie) sometimes i do listen to other genres too, like lounge to chill out, and world music (mostly things in the bossa nova style) and some other things too..
but mostly jazz and rock

I don't like genres. Too many rules.

I don't like food analogies in music either. Reminds me of those smug boss dj's in the seventies who said things like, "Mmm, that's really tasty." What, are they licking their lips or something?

It made me want to lash out at my fellow man and hurt somebody. Probably me.

The most energetic rock band I ever heard was not a punk band but Hawkwind.

The most complex rock music I ever heard was not a prog band but the Grateful Dead.

The loudest musician I ever heard was Stanley Clarke.

Listened to Miles and Captain Beefheart last night. Gustav Holst up on deck.

Kate Bush is hot.

Music: It's not just for breakfast anymore.

Nice spam scumbag.

To RR'rs. Google the dirtbags moniker and you'll see that he joined about 5000 boards today. I'm surprised he took his hands of his pecker long enough to do anything else.

He's certainly a person of catholic (small "c") tastes and a polyglot judging by the numbers of different foreign language formums.

Lots of Linux formums by the way, including the Iragi Linux Users Group.

weird is tho that this is one of the very few forums (if not the only one) where he actually made a post,

Maybe, not sure, but maybe, he's showing interest for this forum...

I'm still awaiting a follow up post. Ain't gonna happen.

The only reason I found out is that I quoted his post in a reply and I saw that his smilie linked to a lesbian spot on the net. Seemed pretty low class for a first post. Didn't take too long after that to discover it's a little boy playing.

Something is happening that can't be good.

I'm gonna flag 'em as bad posts as fast as I see 'em from now on. Let the Grand High Exalted Mystic Leader sort 'em out.

How bout dat? :ciappa:
