Thanks

Suggestion? Yeah:

Mucho basso! Sealed cabinet, so it's great for music, 15" with low response for home theater...No inflatd brand name price either. Under $300!!! This is a quality, high sensitivity 15" woofer that doesn't need as much power to play as loud as many other woofers.
How big's your room and how much $$$ were ya thinking? Maybe get 2 of them.

Well i was looking at the SVS Ultra PB-12 thats priced at $1200.00 (heard great things about em). Ive heard the velodynes myself and was impressed. So these daytons are clean sounding?

Depends what you're looking for. Yes, they're clean sounding, low excursion, strong motor, exceptional linear control and perfectly suited to a sealed cabinet. You won't get the 18 Hz at 110 dB volume specs the SVS boasts, but it'll come close in most rooms. I bet the transient response an overall soudn is a step up, though. Should sound tighter and more accurate with less distortion.

My sub uses a woofer just a step up, but almost the same as that one - It's a huge step up on my old Paradigm PW-2200. For this price, you can buy 2 and a BFD for full parametric equalization and forget about it.
Or take a look at some of the sick subs adire audio sells. $1200 could build a wicked sub.

Excuse my rookieness but what does "BFD" mean? And If I go with Adire audio I have to build the rest myself, correct?

BFD = Behringer Feedback Destroyer

Basically, the BFD is a pro audio processor that reduces feedback on live audio rigs. But, it also has a parametric equalizer function on board, which is what home theater owners use on the BFD. Any parametric equalizer will help improve the performance of your subwoofer by reducing room induced peaking (this causes subs to sound boomy when hitting certain notes) and smoothing out the bass overall. The BFD just happens to be the most affordable parametric equalizer that I know of. Musician's Friend sells it for $100.

Do a lookup as there have been many past discussions on the BFD. IMO, it's by far the most cost effective way of improving the performance of any subwoofer, and I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone adding a sub to their system. Just be prepared for a fairly steep learning curve. You'll need to mess around with test tones and measurements with a SPL meter, but the results are more than worth the time investment.

Other parametric EQs are easier to use but more expensive. Rocket, Velodyne, and Outlaw Audio also sell integrated parametric EQs with PC interfaces. The Rocket R-DES sells for $400.

As far as Adire goes, they used to sell complete subwoofers factory direct, but they seem to have gotten out of that market, and the rest of their product lineup remains somewhat spotty. I know that they still design and manufacture drivers for other companies, but those products are not marketed by Adire.

Acoustic Visions is Adire's primary vendor. You could contact them and let them know what you're looking for. They can custom build a prefinished sub, or a kit, or any individual component, whether you only need the enclosure or the amp or the driver.

Welcome to the Audio Review forum. You may want to put the address below in your favorites because you will always be running into acronyms "BFD" that you won't know what it means. Go to this address and type it in and it will give you different meanings of the acronym you need to find out about, Jeff

Yeah, Wooch pretty much answered your questions - my bad, we throw acronyms around here like frisbees.
I wouldn't worry too much about building a sub- you can buy ready to assemble units at several places now. If not, SVS, Hsu, Velodyne, etc will love to sell you something.I'm just all horny for that new Dayton model because I've heard it recently. The subwoofer bar continues to be raised higher.

Wooch is right, the BFD is a miraculous piece of equipment for subwoofers. For under $100, no system should be without. You wouldn't buy a speaker that boasted a +/- 12 dB frequency response spec (or worse). Why accept that for your subwoofer? That's exactly what you've got going on in your room right now. A forum search might be worthwhile, there's a few good ones on these units from a little over a year ago or so.
