I seem to remember hearing about a pair of floor speakers that "emulate" surround sound for home theater applications, but I have no idea what they are called and have been unsuccessful in my googling for them. I am thinking that they might be the solution to my problem, which I will detail below in the hopes that someone more knowledgable than me could point me in the direction of an applicable solution:
Having relocated from a house with a HT room where it was possible to have two rear speakers to a new space where it would be very difficult to pull it off properly, I am hoping to find a fairly low-end solution. My system in the past consisted of: a 3 speaker satellite system from the late 80s with R, L and a sub (lost in the move), 3 cheap sony surround speakers: Center, and two rears. I am thinking of just getting two floor speakers and using the center channel.
The "room" is a 15x13 theatre space that is part of a larger room. The floors are bamboo (highly reccomended), Ceilings are 95"
The Receiver is a cheap(ish) sony with optical inputs and 5.1 outputs.
I can spend up to 500$, but I'd prefer to spend less than 400.
Your advice is much appreciated :)
