Does anyone have bad experiences with the early models of marantz DVD-players?

I've got an oversensitive player, no dust problem or nothing just plain oversensitive.

And with the present models? Has anyone ever had any bad experiences with the new ones?

I'd like to know.

I have a DV4300 (the newest model of this player is the DV4400) and I have been really happy with it considering the low price. I find that I have to make sure that there are no big horizontal scratches on the disc, otherwise it gives me problems, but with audio discs and most all other types of DVD, CDR, MP3 (scratched or not) it has really been a real star in my system. It pays to have a dedicated CD player though as I find I get better sound.

I'd probably buy a Marantz DVD player again, but I am going to wait for Blue laser hi def DVD ect. before I buy another player.

If you are still under warranty, I'd give Marantz a call and see if they can help you out.

Oversensitive? How so? Skipping?

no skipping, simply refusing to play the cd or dvd!

it doesn't detect the disc!

All the discs? Is it an old player? Pop th ecover and see if there isn't an obvious problem, stuck lense, dirty lense, etc.
