I always liked the 2 Voltron shows as a kid - Thundercats too. The recent Voltron re-hashes didn't impress me much. Don't know if I'll ever buy these though - Robotech and He-Man were my favorites along with Transformers. Probably in that order.

I guess I'm just simple that way. You should see my wife roll her eyes at me. She's got it down to an art.

2 Voltrons
Pssshhhhaaaawww....You didn't know that?
Every Voltron fan knows there were 2 Voltrons - the Lions (more popular in North America) and the Vehicles (more popular in Asia apparently).
The reason is most anime shows in the 80's were composed of a group of similar shows that aired previously in Japan. In the USA so many episdoes were required back then for networks to commit to airing them so the anime gurus got around that by overdubbing dialogue, modifying stories a bit, and basically putting 2 separate shows into one theme under the same name.
So there was the Voltron Lion Force show, and the other one too...
Having seen most of the two series again as an adult, the Vehicle Voltron was the more engaging of the two.
There was a mini-series/movie where they both teamed up against the mutual bad guys later on....read more here:

Thanks for the links Kex. Nice clips. Looks familiar, but still not coming back. It's always been the one with the lions that I can remember.

I had Felix, and Jonny Quest was a wuss. But I loved Top Cat. He was cool. I met Yogi last week. :rolleyes5: What was the name of those Hanna Barbara heros? The one with the giant globs that could stretch into anything.
Gotta run

To mention "Krazy Kat" (with Ignatz the rock throwing mouse) and "Heckel and Jeckel" (the two crows), two classics in the same breath as The Archies and the Osmonds!!!! Are you out of your cotton pickin' mind???!!!!!??! Oh the humanity!!!!!
Worf goes into corner and falls on Baatleff thereby ending the eternal suffering caused by this ill intentioned thread....

Easy big guy. I took many breaths inbetween. And I'll never make this mistake again.
(It's a good thing I replaced his Baatleff with a fuzzy, stuffed copy)

Kam has many wifes in both worlds.
Kam has many wifes in both worlds.
i do also enjoy jessica rabbit, there are times for volutuous curvaceousness (jessica rabbit, holly wood), and then there are times for lean athleticism (cheetara, firestar {from spiderman and his amazing friends}) i am a man of many tastes.. but I respect women! I love women! I respect them so much that I completely stay away from them! (lil steve correl for ya)
Went and picked up Voltron volume 1 today. I'll try and peep it out today and let you guys know what I think. If I'm sober........:ciappa:
So I've finished most of disc 1. Man this brings back memories. The 5.1 mix makes good use of the surround speakers but it just doesn't sound right to me. Video has a very rough, edgy look to it, which fits very well. All in all, not a bad buy. Worth the $24 IMO, if this is your kinda thing.
I just picked up the Fantastic Four boxed set and will start on that when I get through Voltron. After that comes Thundercats.

I finished He-Man 1 and 2 of Season 1 this week. No 5.1, and mediocre video, but well worth the price for the trip down memory lane. Can't wait to get Thundercats.
So...Is Voltron worth getting, too?

If you can get past hearing that dang Voltron theme music 6 times per episode you should be OK
As I mentioned the 5.1 mix sounds weird. Lots of surround action going on but it doesn't have a smooth flow from front to back. Sounds very matrixed (if that makes sense) to me. Better off going with the 2 chan.
The video has a rough, edgy feel to it. Kinda like a color pencil drawing. I think that fits perfect and that's how I remember it being as a kid. Not bad for $24. I of course gotta finish off the collection now.
My son sat and watched most of disc 1 with me so that was cool. Your right, the trip down memory lane is well worth the price.
