You know how you crave certain foods when you're feeling sick, depressed, or just a little down? We all want something familiar and soothing during these times. I've been down with a stomach virus for the last week, and I don't even eat spinach! Anyway, I tend to pop in certain movies from my childhood, or that just sorta warm me up inside. Watched Star Wars: A New Hope (Special Edition - I've decided to buy a used copy of the Unaltered edition when available) and The Empire Strikes Back. LOTR always does the trick as well. Flash Gordon comes to mind, as well as the Lethal Weapon movies.
What's your "Comfort Film"?

Old TV sitcom on DVD from 70s and 80s give me that warm feeling when feeling down. TV shows such as Good Times, Sanford&Son, Three’s Company always cheer me up.

For movies, older comedy movies such as Odd Couple, Used Cars or drama such as Godfather or John Wayne films works for me.

I usually grab these familiar favorites:

For a Few Dollars More
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
Welcome to the Doll House
Danger Diabolik
Faster Pussycat Kill Kill
8 1/2
The Bicycle Thief
7th Voyage of Sinbad
Golden Voyage of Sinbad
Jason and the Argonauts

some are better when I'm feeling down and some are better when viewed with whatever the doctor has prescribed.

I like cartoons. That's one of the reasons that I bought the Pinky and the Brain; Animaniacs; and Pink Panther collections this year. I've watched a few shows off each, but I'm really waiting for a good flu or cold to dive into them.

I also use my sick time to watch chick flicks...stuff that I can't watch with my husband, but I get to embarrass the hell out of him by making him go to the video store to rent them for me. :cornut:

I hope that you're feeling better Def.

Hey Def,

I've been working on some childhood favorites lately myself. I just picked up:

Wizard of OZ
Last Starfighter
Clash of the Titans
One Million Years B.C.
Never Ending Story
Back to the Future
And ALIENS always does it for me. One of my favs.

Good choices. Alliens seems to always be on when I'm sick.

Not when I'm sick. She always wants to try out what they're doing. :arf:
