update: i tried and tried (and kept trying) and nothing worked, so i officially decleared the cd player 'dead', now since i don't have a stand alone cd player anymore i have to use my pc as a cd player hooked up to the amp, but the cd-reader in the pc kinda sucks so i'm planning to buy a new one, question: what cd player is good and not too expensive ($100 to 300$ budget??)

Hi. I was in the market for a new cd player about a year ago. I tried a bunch, including an Onkyo changer and a Marantz changer. The sound quality of the Onkyo was not to my tastes and the Marantz changer had some quality issues. I ended up trading Marantz the changer for a CD5001 which is a single disc player. So far, I've had it about 6 months and it has been great. It retails for around $300. Good luck. There are some reviews posted on it here as well, so that might be worth checking out.

Look at the Cambridge Audio 640c V1 as I think there are still a few around. It's at the top of your budget.

Check the clearance sale at AA. They always have several mid-fi cd players that will fall in your price range. Of note:

And if you're willing to go just a tad over your budget:

Tip: Their clearance stuff does not qualify for free shipping, but if you throw in a cheap cable or some blu-tack that is not on clearance, then shipping is free for the whole order.
