View Full Version : In the wall speakers
I am looking for some in the wall speakers to replace my surround sound. I am currently using Klipsch Synergy system for the 5 speakers, Klipsch sub to match and enjoying the sound. Here are my components:
Toshiba 42HP95
Yamaha RX-V 3000
Yamaha DVD
Yamaha CD
XBOX
Any suggestions?

yep, go for regular speakers if you can, otherwise we still need more information
The room is 20 by 12. The plasma is at the long end of the room. We watch movies and listen to alot of music, from the blues to top 40. The budget is around $700 to $800 for the suround sound speakers.
I hope that helps.

we still need to know if you can go with bookshelf speakers...another thing, in-wall speakers are much more expensive that comparable bookshelfs.
my recomendation, look at the paradigm Atoms and/or titans, a popular set-up seems to be as follows: Fronts: titans Rears: Atoms and ether a paradigm or klipsh center channel and sub
Book shelf speakers are out. I am looking for in the wall setup.

err... out? do you mean 'out' like clothes? cuz in the wall was never 'in' and will never be 'in' too so. and btw if you go for quality you should pick boockshelf or floorstanders. if you're still interested in an 'in-the-wall' setup here are some possebilities, i don't say they're all in your budget range but at least you've got an idea now: http://www.bwspeakers.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.ranges/Label/Range%20In%20wall%20Series

check out the in-walls from axiom audio, they are self contained so you won't hear them throughout the house like normal in-walls, check them out: http://www.axiomaudio.com

There are decent in wall speakers, like any decent speaker they are not cheap.
Do not be confused by a car stereo speaker mounted to a grille. Those are not what I mean. Better high end stores carry them, they may be worth a listen. Carefull though, as I warned we are not talking about $500 for the set. Good ones run closer to $500 each (and up, way up)
If your budget is under $1,000 for the set then free standing speakers will probably give you a bigger bang for the buck because competition is quite fierce at that price point. Also a large used market exists at that same price point.

Check out these....they are in your price range and are made by a credible high-end speaker company like PSB.
