Here is a subject that is probably rarely talked about, but vital nonetheless. I am curious how often everyone cleans their home theater system and what process and methods are used. When I say 'clean' I am talking about the nasty type of cleaning....like removing dust, webs, debris, dirt, and all that other stuff that naturally collects within seconds after we finish cleaning it.

I clean my gear about once a week with a quick clean and then about once a month with a thorough clean.

Quick clean involves the following:

Glass cleaner or Plasma cleaner for my TV
Air in a can dust remover gets sprayed in between all components and into vents
A soft rag is used to lightly dust over components
Speakers are wiped down with a soft cloth

Thorough clean involves:

Taking apart the entire system
Making sure all connections are secure
Wiping down all components and air dusting them front, back, sides, etc.
Cables are wiped down if necessary
Static remover is used
Soft cloths are used over all necessary spots
TV is cleaned back w/ duster, glass is cleaned
All speakers are wiped down and lightly dusted under grills
Subwoofer is dusted and cleaned underneath
Vacuum entire area
Q-tip all RCA plugs

Anyone else have methods that work and how often are they implemented?

Like you, I clean my gear weekly. Saturday's like clock work. I also do it very early, so
I can focus, and not get hassled by any day to day household B.S. I take 1 hour out
of my week for this chore. I found that streak free electronics cleaner works well for
all the chassis covers, and the glass faceplates, canned air is one of the best tools
out there. I get 6 packs of it at costco monthly. I also use our dust buster w/hose and
small brush attachment to clean speaker grills and corners. Lastly, I use some stuff
called liquid gold, once a month on the speaker cabinets, and audio stand. The CD
collection gets this same treatment. It always amazes me how much dust gets into,
and around everything. Good Thread, Take It Easy.:yesnod:

A Swiffer Duster is probably the best thing I've ever bought for my A/V gear :)

Professional cleaning service every-other Monday. I don't mess with the connections, they are pressure fitted and I have never had a problem with them coming "loose" or needing to be cleaned because of bad connection.

I do something similar to N. Abstentia. I use the swifter for hard to reach dust accumulation and a simple Pledge dust wipe (dry) for weekly easy to reach dust. Then once in a while I'll make a concerted effort to clean every last spec of dust.
