Favorite Marx Brothers movies?

The Big Store

Although haven’t seen all of them recently, but from what I have in my collection (latter 7
movies) and from memory, my favorite would be Animal Crackers, Duck Soup and A Day at Races.

Harppo and Chico are funny, but I find Groucho to be the funniest of the bunch. Off course
you all might think other wise :D

I must admit I have never seen a Marx Brothers movie. I used to watch Graucho on his TV show and enjoyed his comedy.

Love the Marx Brothers and have watched all their movies countless times.
No favorite because they all have something special about them.
Can you name the fourth brother? He is in most if not all the movies.

I love the Marx Brothers movies. Here is my take on them.

Top shelf
Animal Crackers - Hooray for Captain Spalding!
Horse Feathers - The highlight for me is Groucho and Chico's meeting at the speakeasy "Swordfish"
Duck Soup - The last scene is one of the funniest of all time. Notice how Groucho changes military uniforms on every shot. The highlight is Rufus T. Firefly with a pitcher covering his head, and a face painted on it, returning a salute. "Was there any mail for me while I was gone?"

Second Shelf
Monkey Business - The first scene with Groucho and Alky Briggs' wife is a classic.
A Day at the Races - Another classic Groucho meets Chico scene with "get your tutsi-frutsi"
A Night at the Opera - Otis P. Driftwood (discussing a contract) "That's a sanity clause" Fiorell (Chico) " You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity claus."

Third Shelf
At the Circus - Worth the price of admission for Groucho's song "Lydia the Tatooed Lady"
Go West - The scene with our heroes creating fuel from the train itself when Grouch yells "Timber!" is worth seeing.
A Night in Casablanca
Room Service
The Cocoanuts

Bottom Shelf
The Big Store - the only one I would avoid.

Karl's sense of humor was not especially appreciated by the brothers Marx therefore his ideas were not put in use. This angered Karl greatly forcing him to go his own way and do things his way.

I'd have to with Day At The Races primarily because it features a now-legendary dance scene with Whitey's Lindy Hoppers. The featured dancer in that insane scene is the incomparable Frankie Manning who invented the lindy hop aerial. Frankie is now 92 and still teaches at swing dance workshops around the world (ironically, he retired from dancing when he was in his 40s and worked for the postal service until his early-60s; he lived quietly as a retiree until some dancers rediscovered Frankie's old movies, then tracked him down and pulled him back into the dance scene when he was in his mid-70s).

...the fifth Marx brother wasn't Karl...it was Gummo who left the vaudeville act prior to their movie careers...later he joined with brother Zeppo in a theatrical talent agency...

First one I saw was "Duck Soup" and it's still my fave...Hofstra University, here on what used to be potato-farm land of Long Island, ran a series of classic movie screenings in the 60s...I recall seeing "M", a very dark silent by Fritz Lang featuring Peter Lorre and "Metropolis"

I can't believe there is anyone who hasn't seen at least one Marx Brothers movie...them and W.C. Fields (my pick is "It's A Gift")...and the "Thin Man" series...and...and...Dracula and Frankenstein...Jimmy Cagney...all those 30s movies were great!
