While watching HDTV signals on HBO I noticed during an action seen in Star Wars, some scenes got kind of pixelated at times. I this normal for an LCD to do this?

on some of the "lesser" models that is common

I'd say that the pixelization is more apt to be the fault of the delivery system than the TV. If you have an extremely cheap LCD (which is unlikely judging from your equipment list), however, very poor video processing might break up the picture. But low bandwidth from the cable or satellite provider or MPEG artifacts are the usual cause.

I've noticed this too while watching HDTV on my 36" CRT, so it's not your LCD, but bandwith issues with the provider.
