Are there any female members on this site? Or is it just a place where men hang out with our "BEHEMOTH real men's speakers" kinda nonsense. Done get me wrong, fullsized speakers do sound better than similar bookshelf and a sub, plus I'm a MAN.:cornut:

There are a few women/ladies hanging around. Give them time to get to know you. Try the Rave Recording section.

The audio hobby is a lot like the car hobby; it's male dominated. Not surprisingly, when you do find that rare female that is into either audio or cars, her "hottie" factor increases exponentially ;). For example, over on Bimmerforums, Silverbeam has been proposed to about 3 trillion times. Not because she's a cute girl (she's cute, but no Jessica Alba), but when you factor in that she knows more about cars than most plus she autocrosses (races), now the drool factor ratchets up considerably!

Forever Autumn is a female member of AR, and while I have no idea what she looks like (she turned down our idea to pose for a calendar :( ), she is very cool.

You know, if you want to attract the Ladies you may want to consider changing your user title to something other than Swine. Just a suggestion. ;)

Thanks topspeed. :blush2:

It goes both ways you know. A guy who has taken the time and interest to invest in a good audio system goes way up on the hotness scale for me too!

She turned down my proposal also. Something about her hubby and my wife getting upset, or something like that. Or was it that her hubby bought her season one of Lost?

Thanks for your advise. My user title used to be 'I'm Sh$t Broke", but I really hate mention about money even as a joke. So, I changed it to Swine cuz it feels really good to say from time to time. I'm not trying to meet the ladies on this site at or any others.

For my audio system, "my girlfriend loves it, my boyfriend loves it, but my wife..she hated it." D. Cross.

You do actually bring up a good point. There aren't a lot of women on this site...I know of two others aside from myself, and both of them only check into the Rave Recs Forum on occasion. In fact, I only have one female friend that I can discuss music with and no females that can discuss audio equipment (not that I know much about equipment myself), but I have lots of male friends who can hold their own in discussions on these topics. Even when I go to concerts, the audience is usually at most, 1/3 female. Like topspeed said, this just seems to be an area that is dominated by men. I wonder why that is? :confused5:

I think that it will change in time. The world it still filled with people who were brought up to think that women are supposed to be one way, while men were to act another. Times are changing, but it will still be another generation or two before all of the people who were brought up with the old way of thinking move on to a better place.

Yeah, going to shows are kinda funny alot of times. I'll say 20 % of audience is female, and 20% of them are actually there for the show. I have never done reaserch on this, but I do talk to girls. That makes up for 4 % of the attendance. Most are there with their lovers and friends or for the scene and heavy drugs. Of cource I dont really go to more female oriented shows, so I couldnt say. It might be unfair to say that a person is not an audiophile if her music only consists of Britney Spear, Jessica Simpson, or other marginally talented artists. It can't be easy being a young girl and not going with the flow, wether it may be mainstream or subcultural. Anyways nice to have you here Forever Autumn.

My sister has a PH. D in Music and thinks my audio system is very unnecessary. So, I always mention about her Steinway & Sons Grandpiano. That shuts her up everytime :-)

...of the interweb is it's anonymity...it can be a level playing field upon which one's worth is determined simply by their level of expertise and the command of the language exhibited...gender is irrelevant...

Of course, the downside is that it is a source of suspect information, bad recipes and easily-accessible porn.

jimHJJ(...he!!...I could be a 15 yr/old girl with a mouth like a truck driver...so in essence, who gives a r@t$ @$$...)

I wondered why your moniker sounded familiar. I recognized your avatar (can you believe the search function actually worked?!?).

bf.c is so freakin' huge it's hard to keep track of everyone. Topspeed was taken, so I went with greenmeansgo, which I need to change. I usually only participate on the e46, e46 M3 and General forums. I'll lurk in OT. Most of the members there, especially in OT, are quite a bit younger than I and honestly, the topics usually range from lame to monumentally stupid. When you see threads about graduating high school :yikes:, you know you're the geezer in the group! They are funny tho!

It's astonishing how elitist some of the attitudes are from Bimmer owners. The funny thing is, it's usually from the jokers with e30's and e36's . I understand pride of ownership, but to think there aren't other worthy cars out there is just stupid. I'm a gearhead first, BMW owner second. My next car may not even be a Bimmer and I wouldn't loose a moment's sleep. It could be a Shelby GT500, a 997, or even a RS4 (on the slim chance it makes it across the pond). Who knows? The point being it seems like a portion of the membership of bf.c likes to perpetuate the myth that all BMW owners are rich pricks that are egomaniacal show-offs. Forget about the fact that they cars are exquisitely engineered and perform like few others. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of guys like you, Kevlar, Chuck, and Eyptntree that get it. Others however, are truly clueless.

That's a nice ride you've got there...too nice for a 23 yr old :ciappa:. j/k Nice autoX shot.
