Greetings to all!
I use a Denon DVD 3800 with a Toshiba MTP5 DLP front projector. Both pieces are about 4 years old now. They have worked well except on some discs with subtitles, mostly older film-based discs from obscure Russian and Soviet specialty distributors. I'd loses the picture or it would freeze for a moment. If I swithced off the subtitles, the disc would play fine. When I'd play these same dics on an older Pioneer DVD player connected to a direct view CRT TV - no problem. I assumed the problem was limited to my Russian language films.
However, this last weekend the system had terrible problems with a clean, unscratched disc of Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" (which is in Latin and Aramaic with English subtitles). Lot's of picture freezes - some at the beginning of the film and more starting about half way through.
I know you'll ask: No, I have not yet swithced out the Denon for the Pioneer to see if the issue is the DVD player or the projector.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Thanks for your help.
