Need help REBUYING a subwoofer......

I bought a powered sub for my home a while back and, when a sound is loud it sounds like a console game boom other than a movie boom or gun shot.If I keep the powered sub box & amp & change out the cheap home 10"sub w/ a car subwoofer ( alpine) will it make it sound any better or is it the amp in the box which is making it sound like a console game? The downfiring box has 1.75cubic feet air space.It is ported though.Please help me find a sub under 300.00. Thanks

Sometimes ya have to pay for what you want. this is just about the least expensive one with any quality that I've heard of.

as for the one you have now, well, it doesn't make sense to throw good money after bad.
